Privacy Policy

Cadence – Birth with Purpose is a labor contraction timer made by West Wall Technologies, LLC (“we”). This policy covers the Cadence iPhone app, its Apple Watch companion, Home Screen widgets, and cadencebirth.com.

We do not run our own servers for your labor data. We cannot read what you log. If something here is wrong for how you use the app, write to support@cadencebirth.com.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell data.
  • We do not show ads.
  • We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs.
  • We do not use your information for advertising or “personalization” across other companies’ apps.
  • We do not collect HealthKit data.
  • We do not send remote push notifications.

What stays on your devices

When you use the app, these stay in the app’s local store on that iPhone:

  • Labor sessions and contractions (start, end, optional peak and intensity)
  • Notes, mood, and the events you log (water broke, tub, meds, and the rest)
  • Your birth plan and checklists
  • Contacts you add — name, phone, relationship label, and calling order
  • Due date and birth place (name, address, phone number, and the coordinates of the place you saved)
  • Settings, including the “when to head in” rule, keep-screen-on, and whether the “soon” nudge is on

Widgets read a small snapshot of the current labor (clock, last interval, recorded pattern) from an App Group on the same iPhone. That snapshot never leaves the device except as part of the same iCloud / backup paths below.

iCloud

When iCloud is available and sync is enabled, SwiftData mirrors your labor records into your private CloudKit database so it can appear on your other Apple devices signed into that account. We cannot open that database. Turning iCloud off for Cadence stops new sync. Deleting sessions in the app also syncs those deletions when iCloud sync is available.

Apple Watch

If you install the Watch companion, the iPhone sends the live timer state (whether a contraction is being timed, the clock, last duration and apart, and whether the pattern is met) to the paired Watch over Apple’s WatchConnectivity. Start and Stop from the wrist come back to the iPhone with timestamps and identifiers to reconcile delayed delivery. Pending commands and the most recently confirmed timer state are stored on the Watch. That traffic stays between your devices. The Watch does not get your birth plan, contacts, or notes.

Backups and export

Automatic JSON snapshots are written to Files (On My iPhone ▸ Cadence ▸ Backups) and are included in iOS device backups. Exporting a backup creates a file you control. Restoring a backup writes that file back onto this phone. Anyone you share that file with can read it — treat it like a medical note.

Location

When you allow location, the app uses it while the app is open to show the drive from where you are to your saved birth place, and to rank nearby hospitals in search. Your current location is not written into the labor database and is not used in the background. The birth place you save (including its coordinates) is stored as described above.

Contacts

You can pick someone with the system contact picker. We keep the name and phone number you choose, along with any relationship label and calling order you set in Cadence. We never read the rest of the address book.

Notifications

With your permission the app posts local notifications on this iPhone:

  • One “pattern met — time to head in” alert when your chosen rule is first met, with an optional repeat two minutes later if the app is not open. Delivery depends on your notification and Focus settings; an alert is not guaranteed to come through Focus.
  • An optional “soon” nudge before the next contraction may start. You can turn that off in Settings.

There is no remote push. Nothing is sent to us when an alert fires.

Maps

Search, geocoding, and directions use Apple Maps. Apple receives the address or place you search for, and your location if you allow it, under Apple’s privacy policy.

Siri, Shortcuts, and the Lock Screen

Start and Stop can run from Siri, Shortcuts, Control Center, and the Live Activity without opening the app. Those actions run on your iPhone. We do not receive them.

This website

cadencebirth.com is a static site. We do not set marketing cookies and we do not run analytics on these pages. Our host may process the request (IP address, user agent) as any host does. We do not use that to identify you.

Your choices

  • Decline location, contacts, or notifications when iOS asks — the rest of the timer still works.
  • Turn the “soon” nudge off in Settings.
  • Export a backup, then delete sessions (Settings ▸ Delete all sessions) or delete the app.
  • Turn off iCloud for Cadence in iOS Settings if you do not want private-database sync.

Deleting the app removes the on-device store. Data already in your private iCloud or in a backup file you exported stays until you delete it there.

Children

The app is intended for people preparing for or in labor. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Not medical advice

Cadence describes the contraction pattern you log. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or a substitute for care. For anything urgent, or to decide when to go in, call your provider.

Changes

If how the app handles data changes, we will update this policy and the date at the top. The current website policy is available at cadencebirth.com/privacy/.
